Marco Strano - Biographer of dreams

Marco Strano (Padova, 1963) graduated in Scenography and Theatrical Costume Design from the Academy of Fine Arts of Venice in 1985. He immediately began working with Maestro Attilio Colonnello in a relationship that would last for decades as Assistant Art Director, Costume Designer and Director of Opera works commissioned by the most prestigious Italian and international theaters (the Arena of Verona, the Sferisterio of Macerata, the San Carlo in  Napoli, Teatro Margherita in Genova, the Metropolitan in New York, and the Luxor in Egypt). His career as a scenographer developed in parallel and in fusion with other forms of creative expression, such as figurative painting (with an itinerant show entitled “Un ex voto per l’arte 17x17” curated by Philippe Daverio, a personal show in 2009 inPadova entitled  “Body and soul” curated by Virginia Baradel; a personal show in 2014 in Verona entitled  “Biographies of dreams” curated by Maurizio Quartieri), and music (as a jazz saxophonist and composer, with a long career as a concert performer and a long list of recordings).

3D wall scenography

In its 3D wall scenography the artist stages the theater of life, the universe of autobiographical and personal facts. Everything is external, naturalistic but explodes from within vivified in the private experience through the oniric redefinition. The dream allows the total synthesis between staff and the objectivity. These boxes are whormoles of consciousness that allow, perhaps for the first time in the art history, to cross with consistent meaning a huge amount of subjects and themes. Everything is real human materiality that has nothing of monotonous stereotypes today. Each building, body, object present in the boxes has a sensory and physical expressiveness enhanced by abysmal units and fantastic of scenic facility.
